The construction of the footbridge, which will connect the center of Mojkovac and the area of the former tailings pond, has cost close to one million euros so far. As they told "Vijesta" in the Municipality, for the completion of the works, by the end of this year, more will be spent on that project.
In the cabinet of the President of the Municipality, Ranko Mišnić, they believe that this expensive project is "more than a footbridge and a ramp, and that it is not just an attractive crossing over the highway".
"We are often asked these days whether a footbridge or a ramp can be something more. We were guided by the logic that everything that represents our greatest potential - tourism, ecology and agriculture, we have to turn to in a creative way in order to be recognized and competitive. "It is not the only purpose to make an attractive crossing over the highway. Along with the intention of the crossing, the idea is to start a new place of a more beautiful future with the same act, which must be perfectly connected with the old one", wrote in the answers from Mišnić's cabinet.

As they say, the footbridge represents an extension - an extension of the city, as the bridge over the highway will be a pedestrian boulevard, and the ramp will be a pedestrian street. That descending street (roundabout), they explain, forms the incoming circular square. Plato - the street will be seven meters wide, "both because of the function and so that there would not be the feeling of crossing a bridge, but the continuity of the city of a wide street with flower beds, benches and other urban furniture".
"The crossing is actually Mojkovac's new corso. At the end of that pedestrian boulevard - bridge, there is a long viewpoint that overlooks both the new area (the old tailings dump) and the square itself. The spiral street that forms the square has the purpose of a kind of tribune, that is, an open stage which we haven't had until now. Tree plantations are planned on the outside," explained the purpose of the expensive project in the office of the President of the Municipality.
They plan for the footbridge to be "part of a complex project, which also includes the city square and the facilities on the former tailings plateau."
"It is necessary for Mojkovac to come out as smoothly as possible to that side towards which it has long been blocked by the highway and tailings. The most natural link between the two spaces is achieved precisely by the oldest urban themes: the street and the square. With the ramp and the bridge, Mojkovac gets a new street and a square as part of its new urban tissues", the Mojkovac Municipality reminds us of the words of the architect Srđan Tadić, who designed the footbridge.
