After 68 days, since the first recorded case, Montenegro is currently free of coronavirus patients, announced the Institute for Public Health.

Since yesterday's cross-section of the situation, the IJZCG laboratories have completed the analysis of 140 samples, among which there were no new cases of infection.

"Also, there are currently no active cases of infection with the new coronavirus in Montenegro," the Institute announced.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in Montenegro, 324 people have fallen ill with the coronavirus, 315 of them have recovered, while nine patients have died.

Montenegro became the first country in Europe without active cases of coronavirus.

Apart from Montenegro, the Faroe Islands - one of the three constitutive territories of the Kingdom of Denmark - are the only territory in Europe where there are currently no cases of the disease. According to data on the Worldometers website, the last two patients out of a total of 187 infected in that territory recovered on May 8.
