Advice for children's rights: Joint action to prevent domestic violence

The Council for the Rights of the Child called on citizens, system institutions and civil society organizations to work together to prevent violence in the family, especially against children. The reason for convening the Council session was, as announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the tragic events that shook the Montenegrin public last month. The council concluded that only through joint forces and personal responsibilities can and must influence the prevention and suppression of violence. "Media attention is necessary to point out the problems, move the public, institutions and competent authorities to react quickly and effectively, but it is also necessary for the media to respect human dignity and the child's right to privacy when reporting," said the statement after the body's session. The Council believes that the public's need for information should be taken into account, but a special sensibility must also be shown to protect the interests of the child and the directly affected persons. "We call on all citizens, organizations and institutions to react to every form of violence and to report it in a timely manner, so that everyone can fight together for an environment without violence in which children can grow up carefree", said the Council.
