Several buildings in the innermost center of Kolašin are not yet connected to the city's sewer network, but instead use septic tanks. According to the answers to the questions of "Vijesti" from the Secretariat for Urban Planning, even the buildings of the Native Museum, the House of Culture and several other residential buildings use septic tanks.
The situation will be changed, the Secretariat says, only after the reconstruction of Vojvode Mina Street, which passes by Trg Borca.
"The preparation of technical documentation is nearing the end, after which the next phases of the project will follow. With the spatial planning program, we planned the reconstruction of Vojvode Mina Street in the city center, precisely because of this, the number of septic tanks would be reduced, and the number of buildings connected to the main sewerage and fecal network would increase," the secretary for spatial planning told "Vijesta". communal affairs and traffic Ljiljana Rakočević.
Only a fifth of buildings and households in the city area are covered by the fecal sewage system. A total of 349 households use sewage, the data are from the work program of the enterprise "Water and sewerage" from two years ago.
A similar situation existed eight years ago, when
WYG international experts stated that "septic tanks dominate in Kolašin, and that their number is between 1.300 and 1.500". The municipality of Kolašin has yet to create the conditions for two buildings under construction, with a total of 77 residential units, to be connected to the sewage network.
As Rakočević said, a meeting should soon be organized with the investors and JP "Vodovod i Kanalizacija" in order to "arrange a model for connecting both residential buildings to the city's sewage network".
In her answers to "Vijesti" questions, she did not comment on the unofficial information according to which the original solution for wastewater treatment for those buildings was a septic tank. Both buildings are covered by the Detailed Urban Plan (DUP) "Centar".
"These days, we had working tours of the field with representatives of JP Vodovod i kanalizacija. We concluded that it is necessary to create the conditions as soon as possible in order to connect both buildings to the city's sewage network... From the position of the local administration, we will do everything to be true partners and that future residential buildings are built according to the planned and expected standards," answered Rakočević.
According to her, construction works are currently being prepared and carried out in Kolašin on buildings in Mekića Polje, next to the road leading to the Railway Station, and at the very end of Boška Rašovića Street, near the intersection. The facility, whose investor is the company "Eurozox" from Danilovgrad, will have 63 residential units.
"Rezident doo" is building a second building, which, according to the plans, will have 14 apartments and two office spaces.
By solving the waste water treatment for one of those two buildings, the secretary claims, "the problem of waste water for the so-called refugee settlement under the railway station will also be solved". Septic tanks are now used in that settlement.
The construction of fecal sewage in Kolašin began in 1995, when 3,4 kilometers of sewage network and a lagoon for the treatment of waste water on Breza were built. The lagoons are only a few hundred meters from the Tara River.
According to the report of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism from a few years ago, the percentage of the population in the urban part of the municipalities of the central and northern regions connected to the city sewer network varies from municipality to municipality. The largest is in Berane and Andrijevica, Plužine and Pljevlje, and the smallest in Danilovgrad, Cetinje and Kolašin.
