At the construction site of the new branch of the Montenegrin Littoral Regional Water Supply from Tivat to Herceg Novi in the Tivat settlement of Opatovo, an environmental incident occurred today in which the contractors pumped groundwater and mud into the sea from the trench where the water pipes are to be laid.
The largest part of the approximately 200-meter-long trench that was dug in the right carriageway of the Jadranska magistrala in the direction of Lepetan is under water, so the contractors started using pumps to throw it out of the trench and pour it directly into the ditches on the highway and the atmospheric sewage channels.
Due to the huge amount of dirty water and mud that got into the sea in that way, today around 14 pm on Opatovo, a large muddy spot was also noticeable in the sea. At the call of the citizens, the Municipal Inspectorate of the Municipality of Tivat responded, and the inspector went to the scene, ordered the cessation of water pumping from the construction trench and the installation of adequate filters at the pump outlets.
