Today, World Environment Day was symbolically marked with the planting of twenty-two plane trees on George Washington Boulevard in Podgorica.
The event called "My Tree for the Planet" was organized by the company "Amplitudo", the American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro and the Ministry of Science, and the project is implemented in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America (USA).
Sycamore seedlings were donated by business entities, ministries and citizens. The first trees were planted by the US Ambassador to Montenegro, Judy Reising Rajnke, and the Minister of Science of Montenegro, Sanja Damjanović.
22 out of a total of 37 donated trees were planted, the value of one seedling is 125 euros, and donors can check in which part of the tree they donated is located via the mojedrvo.me application.
The plane trees were previously prepared by "Zelenil" workers, and among others, they were planted by the mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, and the Minister of Defense, Predrag Bošković. Ambassador Rajnka thanked Montenegro for being part of an important global movement for the planet.
Damjanović said that the My Tree action is important and that Montenegro is part of the countries participating in the global "Time for Nature" movement. The action was supposed to be organized a few days ago, but due to bad weather, it was postponed for today.
The official theme of this year's holiday at the global level, "Time for Nature", is a call to action, reminds us that we must renew our connection with nature and warns of all recent events at the global level that should be seen as a warning message.
Believing that big changes start with small and individual initiatives, we want to contribute in this way and put Montenegro together with you on the map of the countries participating in the global "Time for Nature" movement.
