The Coalition for Sustainable Development (KOR), around which environmental initiatives, activists and NGOs are gathered, she congratulated the civil movement URA on its full admission to the Greens of Europe.
"We testify that the years behind us were marked by the devastation of Montenegro and its environment, and sustainable development is just a dead letter on paper. Through the membership of the civil movement URA in the family of green European parties, there is an opportunity to ensure that these devastations do not go unnoticed and that with the help of the fastest growing political groupings in Europe, Montenegro justified Article 2 of the Constitution and became an ecological state," the statement of KOR states.
They added that the Greens of Europe have already expressed their willingness to help environmental movements and Montenegro to preserve their natural resources.
"They showed this readiness with last year's tour of the Bukovica River, Sinjajevina, Durmitor, Ulcinj Solana and Tara and by supporting local communities and NGOs that are fighting for the preservation of these pearls of nature," KOR announced.
They point out that the civil movement URA is facing a big challenge, because, as they claim from KOR, "even at this moment rivers are being killed in order to build MHE, concessionaires with very weak control are clearing forests, Sinjajevina, one of the largest pastures in Europe, can become an artillery training ground, the UNESCO status of Durmitor and Kotor is threatened, the devastation of Tara does not stop, and the concretization of our coast and numerous other devastations are ongoing".
KOR expressed the hope that the URA civil movement will continue on the green path with the help of European partners whose focus is the preservation of the environment, biodiversity and sustainable development.
