Prayers were held in several Montenegrin cities tonight as a sign of protest against the adoption of the Law on Freedom of Religion.
A large number of citizens of Beran gathered in the gate of the Đurđevi stupovi monastery, where a prayer service was held.
Part of the citizens came directly to the monastery, while a larger group gathered on their own initiative in the park next to the temple in the center of the city, to then walk to the monastery.
Hieromonk Eustatije warned the gathered, when chanting "Milo the thief" started at one point, that the church is not a place for political and derogatory messages.
He greeted those who came to Berane from Kuč, as well as from surrounding towns.
The prayer ended with the song Vidovdan. The police monitored the gathering from a vehicle parked across the street from the monastery.
In Bar, around the temple of St. John Vladimir, litia was organized.
Previously, a prayer service was held in the temple.
Nela Dabanović told those gathered in front of the temple in Bar that the educators are demanding the withdrawal of the Law on Freedom of Religion and "an end to state violence against citizens".
In the Podlastva monastery in Grblje, Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral liturgy served with the clergy.
A prayer service was also held in the church of St. Dimitri in Kolašin.
After the prayer, the citizens dispersed.
The prayer was also served in the Church of Saint Petka in Pljevlja.
Although the priest called the citizens to disperse, one group of them walked from the Church of Saint Petka to the Municipality building.
The prayer service was held tonight in Podgorica, au Niksic citizens organized themselves and walked to the city center.
