Today, Podgorica has not only the best and most technically equipped Protection and Rescue Service in Montenegro, but also in the region, said the mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković.
"Considering the importance of the work that its members perform every day, it is something that we are extremely proud of and I use the opportunity to thank you as the mayor and wish for as little work as possible in the coming months," concluded Vuković.
Today, he visited the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City on the occasion of the start of the fire season and the acquisition of a new vehicle that will significantly improve the capacity for extinguishing forest fires and open fires.
"The capital city is determined to create optimal working conditions for Podgorica firefighters, first of all for their safety, knowing what they face every day, so the acquisition of this new specialized vehicle, the first of its kind in Montenegro, will definitely serve as a valuable contribution," Vuković pointed out, expressing his satisfaction that the capital city has managed to significantly improve the quality of work of the Protection and Rescue Service of the capital city in the past few years.
"We acquired three new fire trucks, and at the same time managed to repair several of them, so the investments in this sense exceeded one million euros, and in the coming period we will continue this investment cycle in order to modernize this Service to the maximum extent," said Vuković, as reported from the Capital City.
The commander of the Protection and Rescue Service, Goran Janković, pointed out that the capital city provides very significant support to that Service, especially when it comes to the procurement of equipment and other material and technical resources.
"This vehicle is just a continuation of the good investment story in the Protection and Rescue Service. Podgorica is definitely a leader when it comes to investing in both human resources and material and technical resources. This vehicle is the first vehicle for this purpose and will greatly improve the fight against the fire element, especially when it comes to forest fires and open fires. In the previous period, the capital allocated funds for the repair of three vehicles, our Service will be equipped with the most specialized vehicles for quick interventions," Janković said.
The head of the Protection and Rescue Service, Predrag Andušić, said that he is glad that the needs of that service have been recognized, and that the modern vehicle will enable firefighters to act as quickly and efficiently as possible in the fight against natural flames.
"Continuity of previous years, the upgrade is only this good cooperation and recognition of the Capital City, as well as members of our Service, what is our share in saving material and immaterial assets, and I would like to mention especially human lives. It will be an honor for me, as well as for all members of this Service, to handle these cars and to be at the service of the citizens of the Capital City," Andjušić concluded.
