Twenty-three officers of the Police Administration have tested positive for the coronavirus, 73 of them are in self-isolation, and none of them have been ordered to stay in quarantine.

It was then explained that police officers were placed in self-isolation or quarantine, because they or their household members had traveled from certain countries or had privately risky contact that could have occurred as a result of performing regular police work.

The Council was then informed that, in none of the cases registered, the reasons do not stem from the scope of police work, that is, from contacts with citizens.

"The immediate application of police powers and the work of all departments and police security centers is adapted to the extraordinary circumstances caused by the epidemic and is organized in a way that is safe for police officers and citizens," the statement says.

At that time, the Council assessed that the police management implements the necessary risk exposure control and police officers, official vehicles and premises used by the police are provided with appropriate personal protective equipment and disinfectants.

And the Police Directorate announced at the time that their officers daily control compliance with the temporary measures of the National Coordinating Body in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

"The work of police officers is risky in itself, and in this situation, police officers are additionally exposed to the danger of the coronavirus because they are one of the services that is on the front line of defense in protecting the health of the citizens of Montenegro," the UP said earlier.
