After the protest of raspberry growers from the "Malina Polimlja" Association, the price of buying raspberries was increased from 1,5 euros to 1,6 to 1,65, with a tendency to increase.
In addition, about fifty raspberry growers, in cooperation with doo "Emar" from Lozna, store raspberries and sell them under their own direction to cold storage companies from Serbia.
"Last year, there was a pilot project of this cooperation under the direction of fifteen raspberry growers from the 'Malina Polimlja' association, and after the successfully completed season, we decided to continue the cooperation with capacity expansion. Some raspberry growers from Petnjica also approached us, who are delighted with this way of functioning", said the president of the association Andrija Delić.
He stated that it is very important to note that the Association achieved cooperation with the owner of the shopping center "Gintaš" - Nedžip Dogru, who is opening a factory for lyophilization and processing of fruits and vegetables with a capacity of 1.200 tons in Mojkovac.
"They are ready to conclude long-term contracts with producers with a guaranteed purchase price. However, there will be activities on the implementation of that project in the previous period where all farmers will be informed about the details. It must be noted that this year the climatic conditions are not in favor of raspberry growers. The quantities will be much smaller compared to previous years. Last year's warm fall and cold spring and summer days have taken their toll. Due to sudden weather changes from extreme hot weather to cold weather with heavy rains, there was a decrease in the crop. We often have blight, which causes leaf yellowing and drying. So, even though the price is higher compared to last year, we will not achieve a drastic change in income because the costs are the same and the quantities are less," said Delic, adding that until the next harvest, they will be even more organized and contribute to the expansion of plantations because raspberry farming has a large potential in the north.
