In accordance with the generally known facts about the minor role of the Ministry of Education in the financial and general patronage of Philosophy in Bar, and especially in the light of the alarming situation in which our respected colleague Jasminka Milošević finds herself, who has been on hunger strike for days, we demand an urgent reaction from Minister Damir Šehović, Veljko Tomić and all other responsible persons who, by their actions and inactions, led to the endangerment of the life of an educator who entrusted Montenegro with a prestigious, prestigious event of world class, bringing 100 participants from 50 countries to Bar and the atmosphere of our education system, and the homeland repays her by paying debts to her shoulders, it was announced in the protest letter of the Educational Union of the Community of Montenegro (PZCG).
The PZCG added that as professors and citizens of this country, in accordance with constitutional guarantees and numerous positive regulations, they demand urgent and prompt information to the public about the steps taken to solve the problem.
They said that on behalf of the Association of Philosophy Professors of Montenegro and as the president of the Organizing Committee of the Olympics, Professor Jasminka Milošević addressed the Ministry of Education on several occasions, the Minister Šehović personally and the Director of the Directorate for Secondary Schools Veljko Tomić and other officials and officials in the relevant institutions regarding the financial construction, sponsorship and assistance in the preparation, organization and realization of the mentioned event.
"Unfortunately, according to the already established practice of the closed system managed by Minister Šehović, that communication had the character of one-sidedness and ignoring, thereby leaving all organizational demands and financial claims to the personal management of several professors, especially the responsible person of the Association, Professor Milošević. For these reasons, Professor Milošević was targeted by several claimants for covering a large part of the costs, which resulted in the blocking of her personal account, court proceedings, actions of public enforcers and finally, given the persistent silence in the Ministry of Education, her decision to go on hunger strike," the statement said.
They said that Šehović could at least talk to the professor on the phone, who would inform him of her requests.
"We are passing on part of her requests, and let her hear the rest from the professor personally:
1. To resolve the misunderstanding with the Princess Hotel due to the blocking of the personal account, as well as the remaining debt of around 3.000 euros and the City Restaurant in Bar 1.700 euros.
2. That the Government reconsider the irresponsible attitude of the Ministry of Education towards IPO 2018, of which they were the general sponsor, and they did not even publish the news about the Olympics on their website. That the director of the Directorate for Secondary Schools, Veljko Tomić, should resign or be dismissed. They keep him there because he easily enlarges the voting machine and employs relatives and friends like his brother in "Sergije Stanić" as head of the student kitchen and godfather in the "Slobodan Škerović" high school. By the way, he also got an apartment, you know "that" apartment. A conflict of interest for which in a normal country he would already be in prison," the statement said.
They, as they said, in order to once again shed light on the importance of the Olympics and the role of the Association of Philosophers and their colleague Milošević, also cited part of the letter of support from international delegations to the IPO:
"Dear Excellencies of Montenegro and all other seekers of true values,
The International Philosophical Olympiad is one of the 12 Olympiads in the world supported by UNESCO. Along with mathematics, it is recognized as the MOST SIGNIFICANT Olympiad.
We all met our dear colleague Jasminka Milošević for the first time in Oslo in 2012. It was her first participation in this Olympics, but from the very beginning it was clear that she would stay with us for a long time. The way she treated others was impressive. When we talk about the professional aspect, all the students she took with her to this and the last Olympics, apart from carrying the Montenegrin flag in their backpacks, also had a huge level of knowledge. All THEY were brilliant young individuals who showed that they possess great skills and knowledge, not only in philosophy, but also in everything else that our Olympiad requires. And Jasminka was one of the most important people in their lives up to that point. Dear citizens of Montenegro, your country should be proud of the young people that Jasminka brought up, they brought you awards, medals and praise and in every sense they are your and our shining stars! Montenegro should be proud of Jasminka, the author of programs and textbooks on which generations of students were educated, an eminent professor, who opened the doors of her city and greeted us (masters of philosophy from all over the world) in her warm embrace in 2018. However, we are still not sure that our dear colleague received the full support of the Montenegrin authorities that she deserved, as all other Olympic organizers received from their governments. Montenegro should be proud of what Jasminka did for her country and her students. Don't break her spirit, she is someone you will glorify," concludes the PZCG press release.
