The LGBT community demands an immediate reaction from the Bar Association due to the allegations of lawyer Marković

Non-governmental organizations LGBT Forum Progres and LGBTIQ Socijalni Centar point to the public actions of lawyer Velibor Marković, through the social network Facebook, for which there is a well-founded suspicion that he spreads intolerance and discriminatory attitudes towards the LGBTIQ community and those he perceives as members of the LGBTIQ community, and additionally threatens to "turn sews" to all same-sex couples who show tenderness in front of him, it was announced from these non-governmental organizations.

They explained that lawyer Marković, via the social network Facebook, addressing Vijesti journalist Damira Kalač, and as part of the correspondence about the Law on Life Partnerships of Same-Sex Couples, stated the following: "...And since this is already turning into a repetition, you just drink and strum with strangers in 4 walls, no one can forbid you, but if I see you complaining in front of my eyes or in front of my children and doing violence to us in that way, I will screw you up."

"After this comment, journalist Damira Kalač, with the legal support of the non-governmental organization LGBT Forum Progress, submitted a report to the Police Directorate, which caused an additional reaction from lawyer Marković. In further comments, he states, among other things: "...Finally, I use the opportunity to I announce that I stand by my allegedly threatening (in fact warning) announcement and add that my warning also applies to cases of abuse in front of me and my minor children between human beings and animals, parents and children, sisters and brothers, as well as of all other sick phenomena. Because by the time the Communal Inspection arrives, it disgusts my surroundings," the announcement states.

As they point out, "the comments are particularly worrisome because, in addition to the initial threat of twisting the needle against LGBTIQ persons, lawyer Marković repeats the threat in his next post and characterizes LGBTIQ persons as sick phenomena that disgust the environment".

Non-governmental organizations LGBT Forum Progres and LGBTIQ Social Center also call on the Bar Association of Montenegro to initiate urgent disciplinary proceedings against lawyer Velibor Marković for such publicly expressed views, and to determine responsibility. "Our non-governmental organizations will file another complaint against lawyer Marković," they conclude.
