The Ministry for Human and Minority Rights (MLJMP) respects the independence and autonomy of every lawyer and points out that the legal profession has a responsibility to contribute to an open society through the rule of law, in which diversity is not responded to by announcing violence, they said.
They added that they are recognized for their consistent efforts and results in terms of social acceptance of all persons belonging to the LGBT community.
"We are especially dedicated to promoting tolerance and creating an environment where all citizens, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, are accepted and safe," the statement said.
They said that they condemn every step and approach that puts citizens in a subordinate position in relation to other citizens in a similar situation because of their identity, i.e. personal attributes, traits or beliefs.
"We will continue the determined fight against stereotypes, prejudices and heterosexism, helping every citizen to understand and accept diversity," the statement said.
The Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, as stated in the announcement, "provides support to journalist Damira Kalač, from the independent daily "Vijesti", who through her work questions social norms and negative reactions in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity and is recognized for representing and defense of human rights of different social groups".
