A large fire is burning in the Velje brdo settlement in Podgorica.
Firefighters are on the ground and are protecting some of the houses from burning down, Goran Janković, head of the Podgorica Protection and Rescue Service, told Television Vijesti.
A lot of smoke can be seen from the center of the fire, which has been active for the last 24 hours, because the members of the Podgorica Protection and Rescue Service did not manage to put it out even with the help of the aircraft of the Directorate for Emergency Situations.
"In the last 24 hours, members of the Protection and Rescue Service carried out a total of 34 interventions," the Capital City Protection and Rescue Service says on their official Facebook page.
They added that in the majority of cases the mentioned interventions relate to grass and vegetation fires, while in the Podgorica neighborhood Stari aerodrome there was a fire on a passenger vehicle.
In the photo sent by a reader of the "Vijesti" portal, it can be seen that the fire is near the house.
"The entire Velje Brdo is burning like a match. Not a single grass or bush remains. Montenegrin patriotism at work. Conservation of nature, a pledge for future generations... What they can't concrete, they set on fire..." said Petar Kraljević from Podgorica.
"22 interventions relate to fires that occurred in the following locations: Goričani, Mahala, Stari aerodrome, Beri, Konik, near the city landfill, Rogami, Velje brdo, Vranjske njive, Tološ, Berislavci, Kotrabutan, Mareza," concludes the announcement of the Service and the rescue of Podgorica.
