A large number of dead sparrows can be seen this morning in Block Five in Podgorica.

Dead birds are found on sidewalks, green areas, and on the stretch from the Bazaar to the Health Center in that neighborhood. A large number of birds also died near the Faculty of Economics, on Zabjelo, in Tuzi.

Ornithologist of the Center for the Protection and Study of Birds (CZIP) Bojan Zeković said that the storm was the cause of the bird deaths.

"Definitely a storm. Now the sparrows have finished nesting and gather in the treetops for the night, in large flocks. This increases their protection from predators and makes them safer, but not from such disasters. Considering climate change and the increasing warming of the atmosphere with more energy in the air, storms will be stronger and more destructive, and these scenes will be more frequent," Zeković said.

"Čistoća" workers remove a huge number of sparrows near the health center and kindergarten. Some birds, as seen by the "Vijesti" journalist, are lying on the ground and still moving.
