The Center for Democratic Transition (CDT) launched the "Vote freely" campaign to promote the inviolable right of citizens to free political choice. The aim of the campaign is to remind citizens of their right to vote according to their convictions, said CDT president Milica Kovačević, in conditions of shaken trust.
"Our goal is to remind citizens of their right to vote and that no one has the right to influence their choice by illegal means. We will remind state authorities every day that their task is to protect citizens' freedom of choice within their competences. We will send messages to citizens in to remind the campaign that the power is in their hands, that behind the voting screen they are free to support whoever they want, regardless of pressure and blackmail. No one can know or verify who the voters voted for!", Kovačević said in a statement. .
Due to the epidemic, CDT will not organize public events during this campaign, nor initiate memorandums of cooperation in this field with competent state institutions or political parties, but will invite them to encourage citizens to protect their voting and civil rights in these elections.
"That is why we expect an active role in this direction from the Constitutional Court, the Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Election Commission, the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms and all participants in the political game. It is very important that these messages reach as many citizens as possible. That's why we invite media houses, NGOs, and conscious and active individuals to help us spread the message "Vote freely!" reach as many people as possible," says Kovačević.
As part of the campaign, eight promotional videos will be prepared with messages that should motivate citizens to freely express their will in the upcoming elections. They will be broadcast on social networks, portals and TV stations.
The key messages of the campaign are #bezkupovine, #bezucjena, #bezunistavanja, #jednomiusvojeime, #bezprljavognovaca and #državnonijepartijsko, which represent the essence of legal provisions that treat criminal offenses against electoral rights.
"On the CDT website www.cdtmn.org an application has been set up with which citizens can send applications in case their vital rights are threatened during the electoral process or in case of abuses in the electoral process. We invite citizens to massively join our campaign so that these messages of encouragement reach as many people as possible," Kovačević concluded.
