Eight million euros for the "Slap Zeta" and "Glava Zeta" Hydropower Plants

The Electric Power Company of Montenegro and the Norwegian company NTE, after the successful commissioning of the reconstructed and modernized small hydroelectric plant "Slap Zete", completed the reconstruction and modernization of other small hydroelectric plants in the Bjelopavlić plain, "Glava Zeta".

The reconstruction projects of two small hydroelectric plants "Slap Zeta" and "Glava Zeta" are part of the investment plan of EPCG, with the aim of preserving and increasing the capacities of already existing small hydroelectric plants through reconstruction projects, PR Center writes.

CEO of Zeta Energy Dragan Vlahović said that more than 8 million euros were invested in this project.

"In a technical sense, the result of this investment will be a 30 percent increase in production compared to earlier production. During the realization of the projects, a responsible social policy was conducted, so that during the entire process there were no layoffs. Reconstruction and modernization were carried out in compliance with all environmental standards," emphasized Vlahović.

The reconstruction project included the replacement of complete electro-mechanical equipment, as well as the rehabilitation and adaptation of the complete building infrastructure. The average realized production in the period before the reconstruction was 14,6 GWh, while now the annual production will amount to 20,5 GWh. This significant result was achieved by increasing the degree of efficiency of the turbine assembly and the generators themselves.

The reconstruction project also included the installation of the most modern technology for waste water treatment, which met the most modern requirements in order to protect the environment.

The small hydroelectric power plant "Slap Zete" was built in 1952 with an installed capacity of 1,2 MW. Three years later, "Glava Zeta" with a power of 4,5 MW was put into operation. Since 2010, both facilities have been operating as part of a joint venture between EPCG and the Norwegian NTE, and the majority owner is EPCG.
