The team of the Center for the Protection and Study of Birds encountered several dead birds in the area of Zeta, including individuals of protected species, which, according to the organization, died by becoming entangled in old fishing nets placed in the fields to protect crops from pests.
CZIP points out that they have been pointing to the same problem for ten years.
"For the umpteenth time, we have sent a request for inspection to the Ecological Inspectorate, in the hope that they will solve this perennial problem. With that, we appeal to the authorities to react, but also to farmers to remove the nets around their fields, because in this way the species that are actually their allies, without using methods for the protection of seedlings that do not endanger plant and animal life," the CZIP announced.
