Members of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City are fighting a large fire that is active in the area of Smokovac.
The fire brigades managed to protect the houses from the fire in one place, but the fires threaten other houses.
Fighting the fire is made difficult by the strong northerly wind.
The fire at Smokovac broke out two days ago, and was extinguished yesterday.
Today, the wind spread it towards the villages of Kupusci and Momče, and all available teams of the Protection and Rescue Service, as announced, will be on duty in that area.
The Directorate for Emergency Situations warned today that during the next two days strong wind is expected in the central and southern regions of Montenegro, which, together with high temperatures, will cause a very high fire danger index.
The Directorate appealed to the citizens to show a high degree of responsibility in relation to the announced situation and to respect the measures and orders of the competent authorities on the prohibition of open fires.
The Directorate also said that, together with other subjects of the protection and rescue system, they will monitor the situation on the ground and be ready to react in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with the available material and technical capacities.
