The commander of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City, Goran Janković, told "Vijesti" that the fire in the Karabuško field is under control and that two fire brigades will remain on the ground throughout the night.
He said that the injured firefighters were discharged for home treatment and that the injuries were minor, i.e. inhalation of smoke and fumes.
Janković said that he could not speak about the cause of the fire yet and that the police teams would determine it when they were able.
Earlier today, Janković told "Vijesta" that about 50 firefighters from Podgorica were engaged in extinguishing the fire.
He then said that three buildings were on fire and that two firefighters were slightly injured during the intervention.
Fire crews from Cetinje came to the rescue, and the fire was extinguished by planes from the Directorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of the Interior.
The Mina Agency was previously unofficially told by the police that one policeman had a broken arm, and the other had burns.
Flames and thick black smoke were billowing from the department store.
The Protection Service stated on their Facebook page at the time that extinguishing was hampered by heavy smoke, for which two members of the Service received emergency medical assistance.
They emphasized that members of the Protection and Rescue Service are making maximum efforts to prevent the fire from spreading, which threatens to threaten the entire facility of the department store.
Fire department cars, ambulances, and police were on the scene.
The Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City of Podgorica previously stated on Facebook that at 11:47 a report was sent to them about a fire in Karabuško Polje.
"One vehicle with a crew was dispatched to the scene, which upon arrival found the auxiliary building of the department store "Dadi" on fire. Currently, eight vehicles with 25 firefighters have been mobilized to extinguish the fire. emergency medical assistance was provided.
