The Government of Montenegro, with the consent of the National Coordinating Body for Combating Infectious Diseases (NKT), has provided funds for the drug remdesivir, which will be used for the treatment of Montenegrin citizens who are infected with the coronavirus and have a more severe clinical picture, the Ministry of Health announced today.
"At the session of the National Commission for the Quality and Safety of Health Care held on September 24.09.2020, 16, the Protocol for the treatment of COVID-XNUMX of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases of the Clinical Center of Montenegro was adopted. one of the antiviral drugs is scheduled to be introduced with the non-proprietary name remdesivir," the statement of the Ministry of Health emphasizes.
The announcement adds that the price of remdesivir is 345 euros per ampoule (without VAT) and is the same for all countries.
"Based on the assessment of the Crisis Medical Staff, and in relation to the daily number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, especially those with a more severe and difficult clinical picture, the need for 320 ampoules of Remdesivir on a monthly basis was indicated. Bearing in mind the above, it is necessary to provide 110.400 euros (without VAT) for the purchase of medicine on a monthly basis,'' said Minister of Health Kenan Hrapović.
The Ministry of Health stated that due to the expressed need for remdesivir, the Health Institution of the Pharmacy of Montenegro "Montefarm" will carry out the urgent procurement and import of the drug in the required quantity for the month of October.
"Procurement of this drug in the coming months will most likely be possible exclusively through the joint procurement mechanism initiated by the European Commission," concludes the statement of the Ministry of Health.
