Podgorica: The global campaign of the fight against breast cancer month was marked by the planting of chestnuts

Today, new chestnut trees were planted in Studentska Street in Podgorica, which symbolically marked the global campaign of the month of the fight against breast cancer, but also the beginning of a new cycle of the My Tree project.

The mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, said that this year the capital also joined the global campaign to mark the month of fighting breast cancer.

"Today, we symbolically planted seven chestnut trees at the beginning of Studentska Street, together with our dear fellow citizens from "NVO Veritas", because the chestnut flower is pink in color and marks this global movement," said Vuković.

He, as reported from the Capital City, pointed out that in this way he fully supports the efforts in the fight against this vicious disease.

"It is very important to act preventively, to be agile, to visit doctors and to regularly do examinations and self-examinations, because statistics also show that if this disease is detected in time, it is successfully treated in a percentage of 80 percent," Vuković pointed out.

Oncology doctor Nada Cicmil Sarić emphasized that the World Health Organization dedicates an entire month to the fight against breast cancer, unlike all other malignant diseases, which are dedicated to one day a year.

"Breast cancer is not only a problem of one woman, but of the whole family, of the whole society, in every broadest sense of the word, and therefore it is extremely important that numerous previous experiences and activities have contributed to raising the awareness of women significantly, and to the stigma and dogma that exists in this domain has significantly decreased," emphasized Cicmil Sarić.

She added that breast cancer must not take any life, because it is included in only four, possibly five preventable minor diseases, and this is an opportunity that no one should miss.
