The Education Union (PZCG) called on the relevant ministry to explain how and in what way it will compensate the September salary of employees in education who work on a fixed-term basis.

The Board of Directors of PZCG stated that the educators employed on a fixed-term basis, as well as their colleagues who work for an indefinite period and will be paid for their work for September, have fulfilled their work obligations.

"The Ministry of Education had to come out with a clear position on when and in what way it will evaluate the work of educators with fixed-term work," said the Ministry of Education and Culture to the MINA agency.

The association reminded that the 2020/21 school year is year was postponed to October 1 due to the situation caused by the coronavirus, but that the entire teaching staff was ready on September 1.

"This also applies to those with fixed working hours, teaching assistants, those who work in two schools, those who had to access official education, department heads", explained the PZCG.

According to them, missed classes in September must be made up in the next period of time, but temporary employees will do this without monetary compensation.

"In all of this, it is strange that the representatives of the Education Union did not first ask the Ministry for an answer to that question, because if anything, chronologically it happened first, and approximately 1,5 thousand temporary teachers are in question," stated the PZCG.

They said that the Minister of Education, Damir Šehović, is making a lighthearted promise that he will soon publish a model proposal for evaluating additional work in schools.

"We all know that the volume of work of teachers has increased, but how can it be properly quantified and valorized", asked the PZCG.

The educational community, as they stated, has on several occasions asked for an answer to the question of denying the September salary to teachers who work for a fixed period of time and why the classrooms are not equipped as promised.

They noted that we should not forget that on May 19, Šehović promised to equip all classrooms in Montenegro for students from the first to sixth grade and digitize teaching.

"Since there is no computer equipment, is anyone obliged to at least explain to us where the money is", asked the PZCG.

They said that any type of overtime work should be adequately valued or paid.

"These ideas, which have appeared lately, in the technical mandate of Minister Šehović and the VD state of the trade union, are a reflection of politicking", they believe in that association.

They stated that since March, educators have been faced with additional work due to the pandemic.

The PZCG said that they called on the Ministry and the Trade Union to find measures to support educators, but, as they stated, they turned a deaf ear.
