The President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katic, on behalf of the Municipality, personally and on behalf of all the citizens of Herceg-Novi and the leaders of the local administration, expressed sincere condolences to the Orthodox Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral, the monks, the clergy and all the faithful of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro on the occasion of the death of the Most Reverend Archbishop of the Metropolitan of Cetinje and the Exarch of the Holy Throne, Mr. Amfilohi of Peć, announced from the Municipality.
"It is with immense sadness that we received the news that the greatest son of the Orthodox people of Montenegro, the arch-bearer of holiness in our country, has passed away. "This is a sad day for all believers, for the whole of Montenegro, because the one who devoted his life to persistent work for the good of the people is no longer there," the statement said.
As they said, Herceg Novi remains eternally indebted and grateful to His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohi, "for always being with our city, in joy and in difficult times. We had the honor of being his contemporaries and hosting him countless times in our city".
"The Metropolitan strongly guarded and nurtured the strong bond between the inhabitants of Herceg Novi and the Serbian Orthodox Church, which has lasted for generations. From his hands, Herceg-Novi received the Order of Saint Sava of the first order, a privilege that is granted to the few," the telegram states. .
They said that thanks to the support of Metropolitan Amfilohi, Orthodox temples were restored and built in Novi, Njegoš's school was opened, cultural and material heritage, language and the Cyrillic alphabet were preserved.
"He wholeheartedly helped people in need, always protected the spirituality, history and traditions of the people of our region," the statement said.

The day of mourning, as announced, is marked by raising the flag at half-mast on the building of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, buildings of public institutions and companies founded by the Municipality of Herceg Novi, and facilities of local communities.
Electronic and other media, organizers of public programs and content are obliged to adapt their programs and content to the Day of Mourning. During the Day of Mourning, it is prohibited to broadcast music, i.e., to host programs of entertainment content in public places.
