The President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić, sent a congratulatory message to the Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Odre Azula, on the occasion of the World Science Day for Peace and Development, November 10.
"The importance that science has for the prosperity of the entire society is immeasurable, and the responsible use of scientific achievements is of crucial importance. In a year when the entire planet is facing a pandemic, the key role of science for the welfare of society, and the necessity of scientific cooperation and the exchange of scientific discoveries are more recognizable than ever," said Bečić.
He added that "we appreciate the crucial role that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) plays in guiding the global scientific dialogue and raising public awareness of the interconnectedness of science, peace and development."
"Montenegro is clearly oriented towards the protection and promotion of the universal values of UNESCO, as well as further investment in science, and is ready to further deepen cooperation with this organization. I can assure you that Montenegro remains strongly committed to the development of science and innovation, and additionally motivates us the fact that the European Commission in the latest Report on Montenegro recognized and praised the efforts and concrete results of our country in this area" concludes Bečić's congratulatory message.
