The selector of the Boxing National Team of Montenegro and the famous athlete Boško Drašković claims that he cannot get a permanent job because of his participation in the fights, and that his contract was not extended for that very reason.
In the video, which is circulating on social networks, Drašković can be heard in a conversation with the director of the Sports Center, Predrag Ivanović, asking if Veselin Grbović, now the former mayor, ordered him to be "removed", and the latter replies that "it's not at all a pleasant thing, that he did not take part in that, that he found himself among the unpicked grapes" and that he has a letter from Grbović when the contract is not extended, not only for Drašković but also for all the others.
In a video that quickly went viral, Drašković says: "I chose Sportski because I'm not interested in education. They gave me an extension, wait for the elections and now he's going for revanchism. It won't do him any good."
In 2018, Drašković graduated from the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Leposavic, and last year he worked as an intern at the Nikšić Sports Center (SC) where, after the end of the internship, he continued to work under a contract that expired on November 16. "After the end of my internship, I continued to work through the Agency and ran a boxing school. I can freely say that I was more profitable than certain workers who received a permanent solution. I was not hurt by the fact that they did not extend my contract, as the way it was it's done. On the last day of the term of office of the President of the Municipality, Veselin Grbović called the Sports Center and told them to remove me immediately and tell me that he did it. I never did anything wrong, but it seems that my only sin is that I participated in litias and to be honored for that. I am not a member of any party, and participation in litias was my personal attitude according to the adopted Law. I have boxers of all faiths in the national team, I have those I brought, who won medals, and the state did not repay them "I can imagine what ordinary citizens are going through, if this is how I, the most successful sports worker, am going. As a selector, I brought four medals from European championships, which Montenegrin boxing has not done in 50 years," said Drašković.
In his response to "Vijesti", Ivanović said that he was unpleasantly surprised by Boško Drašković's actions, considering that he filmed him without authorization." "Especially due to the fact that I had a correct personal and professional relationship with him in which nothing was secret, so that there was no need for secret recording. The only thing I can give as a comment on your questions is that Sports Center Nikšić, as the beneficiary employer, in the case of Boško Drašković, fully acted in accordance with the legal regulations. I would like to point out that JP Sports Center Nikšić is a company founded by the Municipality of Nikšić, and that it is a beneficiary of the budget of the Municipality of Nikšić and can neither hire nor fire workers without its consent", writes the SC director's reply to "Vijesta".
Ivanović refers to Grbović's letter from February 2014, in which it is stated, bearing in mind that the Municipality is the founder of the Sports Center, that they cannot hire a person without the consent of the founder, "either on the basis of an internship, contract of employment temporary and occasional jobs, or in a permanent employment relationship".
Drašković regularly participated in litias, and he also wore an honorable cross. As the captain of the boxing team, he represented Montenegro at numerous international competitions for years.
He will be remembered as one of the most outstanding boxers in the history of Olympic boxing in Montenegro.
He is also the recipient of Nikšić's highest award, the Liberation Award, which he received in 2009 when he won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games. He is also known as a great humanitarian, so his farewell match was part of the humanitarian boxing show "The Last Punch for Sofija", when all proceeds from the tickets sold will be earmarked for the treatment of a sick fellow citizen, four-year-old Sofija Šušić, who suffers from a rare disease.
He also participated in "Dnevnica" where, again, he collected money for Sofia's treatment.
I reacted emotionally when I saw that they were shining on me
On the recording, Drašković, after asking Ivanovic to call the then President of the Municipality, speaks to Grbović, insults him and asks "if he thinks about it".
"The problem is that we have to keep our promises," Grbović can be heard saying on the video.
"What promises? What did we talk about. I needed a job. I was on an internship, extended, now you want to be holy. What were the promises? What topic did we talk about, did I do the job properly? The contract does not expire. You will revenge," Drašković asked Grbović, who replied that there was no revenge but that his contract was expiring.
After that, Drašković continued with volleys of insults and threats to Grbović.
"I reacted emotionally. It was not my intention to offend anyone, nor to threaten, but I got annoyed when I saw what they were doing to me and how they looked at me, even though I didn't deserve it," said Drašković.
