The Government of Montenegro and the Ski Resorts of Montenegro have for the umpteenth time deceived, tricked and left the citizens of Žabljak hoping that a better local leadership and a better government would listen to the development of Žabljak.
This is stated in the press release of the NGO Tourist Association Žabljak on the occasion of the Government's decision to abandon the expansion of the ski infrastructure at the "Savin kuk" ski resort, which would be contrary to the recommendations of UNESCO, and to use the acquired cable car installations for the needs of the "Savin kuk" ski resort after redesigning for merger of ski centers under construction "Žarski" and "Cmiljača".
This NGO states that Durmitor was and should remain the winter tourist center of Montenegro.
In the announcement, they stated that at the meeting with the local and state authorities, held on July 4, the UNESCO report from 2020 was read and analyzed. "came to a unique conclusion that the further expansion of the ski resort is against UNESCO's standards, and consequently recommendations, which does not refer to the possibility of reconstruction of the existing Savin kuk ski resort".
The meeting was attended by the President of the Municipality of Žabljak Veselin Vukićević, Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović, Secretary of the National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO-Milica Nikolić, State Secretary Damir Davidović, in front of the Public Works Administration Maja Delić, in front of the company Novi Volvox engineer Gogiž, coordinator for the 2020 elections of the municipality of Žabljak Jevto Eraković, director of the Savin kuk ski resort Milutin Tomić, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, vice president of the municipality of Žabljak Vasilije Jakšić, president of the SO Žabljak Vidoje Tomčić, in the capacity of head of the secretariat for urban planning Sava Zeković and representatives of the entire economy of Žabljak.
"On that occasion, the only point of the day's work at the meeting was the reconstruction of the existing cable car, not its expansion, which was agreed upon by all present. The advantage of the reconstruction is justified by the fact that the cable car already acquired for the purpose of expanding the ski resort in the Panalj locality can, with redesign, be used for the reconstruction part of the cable car on Savina kuk, these are the words of the engineer Gogić present in front of the company Novi Volvox, which is carrying out work on the construction of new ski resorts in Bjelasica. At the time of the discussion, the mentioned cable car was stored in Podgorica. It was concluded at the meeting that the redesign will be carried out in the next two months , and as long as autumn weather permits, start the reconstruction of the existing Savin kuk cable car," the announcement states.
They add that since the meeting on July 4 until today, "nothing has been done on this matter".
"On the contrary, by the decisions of the government of November 5 and 9, 2020, the cable car intended for the reconstruction of the existing one on Savina Kuk, at the initiative of the Ski Resort of Montenegro, is proposed to be used to connect the ski centers under construction "Žarski" and "Cmiljača "", the announcement states.
