Last year, the Ministry of Health and health institutions received more than 2,3 thousand complaints from patients, who mostly complained about the quality of health services, the actions of health workers, the length of waiting for health services and the organization of the work of health services.
The Ministry of Health told the MINA agency that from January 1 to December 20 last year, the ministry received 207 complaints, and healthcare institutions received 2.134 complaints from patients.
"The largest number of complaints related to the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG) (934), followed by the Health Center (DZ) Podgorica (910) and the Bar General Hospital (71), given that these institutions provide the largest number of services in annually", stated the Ministry.
As they said, the number of complaints has slightly increased compared to 2016, when there were a total of 2.070.
The Ministry believes that the reason for the increased number of complaints is that citizens know more and more about their rights and obligations, and therefore seek their protection.
"Of the 2.134 complaints submitted to health institutions in 2017, the largest part related to the quality of health services (200), the actions of health workers or associates (296), the length of waiting for health services (714) and the organization of the work of health services (318)". specified from the Ministry.
As they stated, of the 207 complaints submitted to that department about the work of health institutions, 118 related to the quality of the health service, seven to the organization of the health service, 26 to the method of charging for services, 23 to the time of waiting for the service, 32 to "other", while there was one objection to the procedure of the health worker.
"Until December 20, there were no complaints from citizens in the health institutions of the Mojkovac, Cetinje, Budva, Cetinje General Hospital, Brezovik Special Hospital for Pulmonary Diseases and the Blood Transfusion Institute," said the Ministry.
According to them, all objections are considered immediately or within 72 hours from the moment of submission, all circumstances and important facts related to the allegations presented in the objection are determined and the applicant is informed about it.
A patient who has been denied the right to health care or a right established by the Law on Patients' Rights, i.e. a patient who is not satisfied with the provided health service or the actions of a health or other health care worker, may submit a verbal or written complaint.
As explained by the Ministry, the objection is submitted to the director of the health institution or an authorized person, i.e. the Protector of Patients' Rights.
"A patient who is dissatisfied with the finding of the complaint can contact the health inspection, in accordance with the law," said the Ministry.
