The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, pointed out that everything that happened in history should be marked by respecting the relevant facts and that everyone can have their own personal attitude and attitude towards the truth, but that they cannot change them.
He attended today, at the invitation of the Serbian National Council, the exhibition of documents entitled "Parliamentarism in Montenegro and days of unification", the Serbian embassy announced.
"The great and famous Battle of Mojkovac, as an example of Christ-like sacrifice for one's neighbor and for freedom, was an introduction to the liberation of Montenegro and the Podgorica Assembly - as a free expression of the people's will for unification with fraternal Serbia," he said.
As it was announced, he referred to the fact that history, as a teacher of life, should teach us that what is best from the historical memory of a people, a nation, an era, "we extract as the best experience and use it in these current challenging times, as well as in those yet to come."
Božović believes that now two independent states and members of the United Nations, Serbia and Montenegro should build relations on the foundations of this glorious history and past.
"Such historical reminders should serve us to be brothers, friends, closest neighbors, to be together in love, to be turned towards each other and to respect and help each other. To build fraternal and friendly relations, respecting clear and undeniable facts, with the right to perhaps look at, understand and interpret them differently," said Božović.
He said that regardless of a new view of them, emotions and relationships that may be caused by an event from the past, we must remember with due care and respect all those people, their deeds and take it as a historical memory that can only serve for good in present and future," Božović concluded.
