The Mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, visited the Protection and Rescue Service of Podgorica today with his colleagues. As reported by the PG bureau, he once again expressed his special satisfaction with the continuous progress of that service.
"The reason for today's visit is a significant investment in existing equipment worth over 230.000 euros, and in summary, we can say that the capital has recently allocated 1,5 million euros for these purposes," Vuković pointed out, adding that in a technical sense, Podgorica has certainly the most equipped Protection Service in Montenegro, but also beyond.
The mayor emphasized that the Protection and Rescue Service had another extremely successful year behind it.
"This year was particularly difficult because, in addition to performing regular tasks, especially during the summer months, our colleagues were engaged in the fight against the coronavirus, and I can proudly say that all this time, they represented a very important link in the health defense chain of our nation," emphasized Vuković, and as the mayor and until yesterday a member of the NKT, he congratulated them on the results achieved.
"More importantly, we have great, motivated people and they are the most important resource of this service. As mayor, I am extremely proud of them, and while I and this city administration are in office, these people cannot and must not lack anything," concluded Vuković.
The commander of the Protection and Rescue Service, Goran Janković, said that the acquisition of these vehicles significantly improves the work of that service, and that in the coming period, the firefighters will be even more ready to fight the fire element.
"The reason for today's meeting is the purchase, that is, the repair of three fire engines, that contract was concluded at the beginning of the year and we received three of the most modern, state-of-the-art vehicles. These vehicles will be of great use to our firefighters for easier fighting with the element of fire. What particularly accentuated the importance of this moment was the MAN vehicle used for urban interventions. "Our service was without that vehicle for a long time and we finally managed to repair it and return it to full functionality," Janković pointed out.
He emphasized that he can proudly say that this day is significant for all firefighters, but also for the citizens of Podgorica, because the Protection and Rescue Service is finally equipped for quick action that will make a full contribution to protecting primarily the lives of citizens, and then their property. He expressed, as the announcement concludes, his full gratitude to the Capital City and Mayor Vuković that the service headed by him during the fight against the coronavirus had primacy when it comes to investments in equipment.
