The Ministry of Sports has not responded to a single request from the Municipality of Berana for the renovation and construction of sports facilities in the past two years. Vladimir Đaković, manager of the Municipality, said that during that period, the reconstruction of thirteen sports facilities was requested, but unsuccessfully.
"We asked the Ministry of Sports for the reconstruction of seven sports facilities in 2019 through a public tender. We focused on the small sports stadium, the adaptation of which required about 75.000 euros per object. Even the former minister of sports, Janović, promised us that he would finance the tartan base that same year when he was coming to open the youth office. However, nothing came of it," Đaković told Vijest.
They did not receive an answer from the Ministry, but in a telephone conversation with the project coordinators, they were told, says Đaković, "that large funds are needed for the implementation, which exceed the value of the commitments".
During this year, they sent new requests for the reconstruction of playgrounds in the local communities of Dolac, Lužac, Hareme, Donje Luge, Pešca, Novo Naselje, and they repeated the previous ones, among which the renovation of the old hall below Jasikovac requires the most money.
"We took care that the requested funds for the reconstruction of these buildings did not amount to excessive sums of money, so the amounts for the reconstruction of the terrain in these local communities ranged from 5.000 to 40.000 euros. Of course, even in 2020, not a single application from the Municipality of Berana received a passing grade from the Ministry of Sports, while numerous sports fields were built in many other municipalities," says Đaković.
In response to questions from "Vijesti" to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Anja Kečalović, the new spokeswoman in the Sports Administration, says that they are currently in the process of reorganization, and that for this reason there is no adequate superior who could answer the questions. The questions to the former Minister of Sports submitted to the address available on the website of the Ministry of Sports were not answered.
The final phase of the revision of the project for the reconstruction of the western tribune at the Beran city stadium is underway, and the Municipality will allocate around 100.000 euros from its funds. In the previous renovation of the eastern tribune, they received help from the Football Association of Montenegro, which invested 1,7 million euros, and this year, the plan is to arrange at least one sports field in the city with municipal money.
On November 21, the first technical test of the newly installed floodlights was carried out under Bogavski brdo, also as part of cooperation with the Football Association, which were made according to UEFA standards for playing matches at all levels.
When asked what they expect from the new Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the manager of the Municipality says that they will wait to see what the work plan will be and how the money will be allocated. "We have the documentation ready and we will definitely apply for funds, especially since we are a municipality with a small budget and we are doing as much as we can from our own sources, but it is not enough."
