The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Minister Dr. Vesna Bratić's department, will actively participate in the integration of the oldest school in Montenegro, the Cetinje Theological Seminary, into the educational system of Montenegro, the Ministry announced.
These are some of the conclusions from today's meeting with the rector, father Gojko Perović, priest Mirceta Šljivančanin and representatives of this school. Thus, one of the oldest educational institutions in Montenegro, founded in 1863, would become part of the official educational system of Montenegro and be recognized and supported by state institutions, said Minister Vesna Bratić.
"If we bear in mind that in Montenegro more than eighty percent of citizens are believers of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro, it is more than logical that the Cetinje Seminary should be accredited and realize all the legal rights and status that belongs to it, which it did not have until now" , she said.
The rector of this school, archpriest Gojko Perović, expressed his satisfaction with the willingness of the minister to participate in an active dialogue and work towards making this school part of the official school system of Montenegro.
He said that they are not asking for anything more from the seminary than the status of the Islamic school "Madrasah" in Montenegro, and that the seminary has not received any help from the state authorities of Montenegro so far.
"In the future, we will work on harmonizing our program with the current school curriculum in order to integrate our school into the Montenegrin education system as easily as possible," he said.
The meeting took place, as announced by the ministry, in a constructive atmosphere, and the representatives of the ministry and the seminary expressed their readiness to cooperate even more closely in the future both to overcome this initial problem and to improve all possible forms of cooperation.
