Simović promised the sustainability of the geronto housekeeper service

The President of the Municipality of Nikšić, Milutin Simović, promised that in order to preserve and improve the service of geronto housewives, he will ensure the sustainability of this program, which will be free for users of the previous program.

"In this way, we show care for our elderly fellow citizens and contribute to the preservation of jobs for hard-working and responsible geronto housewives," Simović said at today's session of the Nikšić Municipality Assembly.

Yesterday, 23 geronto housewives in Nikšić had their contracts terminated, and their further employment depended on the introduced co-payment, which, depending on the pension of the beneficiary and the distance from the place of residence, will amount to between three and 15 euros.

The project "Help to citizens of the third age" from 2016 to March 2020 was financed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and UNDP, and implemented through the Center for Social Work, and from March 1, the project is implemented by the relevant ministry and the Red Cross Montenegro, who was an employer of geronto housewives.

Yesterday, the geronto housewives called on the authorities to find a solution for them, because for many of them, the 220 euros was the only source of income. They expressed their displeasure and the fact that until now, many of them have been working for five years, they have no record of work experience or records in the PIO Fund. that their contributions have been paid.
