The European Union in Montenegro awarded the best connoisseurs of biodiversity, as part of its educational campaign on protected plant and animal species "I am with you", which were presented on the website www.biodiversitet.me. Packages of eco products inspired by nature were won by Radovan Backović from Nikšić, Danica Čvorović from Pljevlja and Amra Lješnjanin from Plav, who, as announced, were chosen by random selection among the best ranked players of the award quiz on the aforementioned website.
"The website presents 54 species in an interesting and interactive way through texts, photos and illustrations. In one place, you can meet plants, mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles, insects and marine species, protected within Natura 2000, the ecological network of protected areas formed by the European Union. "I'm with you too", as the campaign is called, is symbolically said by the brown bear and chamois, flamingos and grouse, bottlenose dolphin and golden coral, lynxura and creeping bluebell, dragonfly and tiger bear, river turtle and leopard scum, as well as many other important but endangered species that we need to preserve," the EU info center states.
They point out that the site was visited by more than 4.000 people in one month, and that more than 1.200 contestants participated in the quiz. "In addition to the quiz, every week the European Union in Montenegro rewarded its followers on social networks, who could thus win birdhouses, wooden puzzles for children, tree decorations in the form of protected species and other eco products," he adds. in the announcement.
The goal was, as they said, to further promote this topic and thus point out the importance of biodiversity protection.
Data on protected species were collected by the EU in Montenegro in cooperation with partners: the Environmental Protection Agency, the Institute of Marine Biology in Kotor, and non-governmental organizations, the Bird Protection Center and the Montenegrin Society of Ecologists. The reason for organizing this campaign is the European Union's Green Deal, which represents the EU's sustainable development strategy for the 21st century and sets the goal of making Europe the first climate-neutral continent. An important pillar of this agreement is the protection of biodiversity, the protection of which was the central theme of the "I'm with you" campaign.
