The new windows in the business center, which is located in the building where the "Hilton" hotel is located, have not yet been installed, and the hotel management announces that it will be done after the New Year holidays.
"The glass that was broken was ordered from a factory in Germany - it is the highest quality and best product on the market for these products. It is expected that the same will be installed after the holidays - when it is produced and delivered to the address of the hotel", the executive director of the hotel Nemanja Nikolić told "Vijesta".
Two windows from the building in Ulica slobode, where the "Hilton" is located, fell on Friday, December 22, due to which the part of the street in the center was closed, and passers-by were not allowed to pass through the fenced part of the street.
Nikolić pointed out that there is no danger that the other windows on the building will fall.
"There is no possibility of the glass falling from the facade except for its breakage. During the procurement of glass, we took care to ensure that for safety reasons the facade had "hardened" glass that "scattered" into small pieces when broken, so that the danger to pedestrians was reduced to a minimum," said Nikolić.
He confirmed earlier reports that the glass fell not due to strong blows from the north wind, but due to a mechanical impact.
"The glass did not fall due to the north wind, but due to mechanical damage (impact). "In consultation with the contractor and based on their experience, it is assumed that the cause was a bird strike," said Nikolić.
Ornithologist Bjanka Prakljačić believes that the chances of a bird hitting the glass and breaking it are extremely small.
"I can say 99 percent that the bird didn't do it. "We don't have such big birds that could do this much damage at high speeds, and if that happened, that bird would have to be dead," said Prakljačić.
She pointed out that bird strikes on buildings made of glass in Podgorica are not rare, but that in no case, which she has dealt with so far, has the glass been broken.
"They often bring me seriously injured birds that hit the building without even scratching the glass on the building. A lot of birds died this year because of that," said Prakljačić.
Even if the bird had broken the window of the business center, according to Prakljačić's opinion, there would have to be bird feathers and blood on the spot.
