The donation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), which is intended to help the population of Croatia, which was affected by the devastating earthquake, was sent today by a truck of the Red Cross of Montenegro, together with the donation that the Red Cross of Montenegro intended for the Red Cross of Croatia, the MUP announced.
The announcement adds that the assistance of the MUP, in accordance with the expressed needs of the Government of Croatia, was provided from the resources of the Directorate for Emergency Situations of the MUP, and consists of bedding (100 sets), sleeping bags (100 pieces), blankets (200 pieces) and mats for sleep (100 pieces).
Minister of the Interior Sergej Sekulović pointed out that the help is an expression of empathy and solidarity with the citizens of Croatia who were affected by the devastating earthquake.
"At the same time, it is proof of a sincere desire to help the population in that area in a concrete way in overcoming the problems they are facing due to the earthquake. This is also an opportunity to praise that many individuals and organizations have shown their willingness or helped the vulnerable in various ways in the past days area, and thus confirmed and affirmed good-neighborly relations in the best way, as a recognizable form of cooperation between our two countries," said Sekulović.
The MUP statement states that the basis for providing assistance is the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of Croatia on cooperation in protection against natural and civilized disasters, which was signed in Zagreb on May 27, 2008, and the Decision of the Government of Montenegro dated January 14, 2021. that the assistance provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs be handed over to the Directorate for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Croatia.
"The aid of the Red Cross consists of heaters (100 pieces), sponge mattresses (100 pieces), bedding (100 sets) and winter jackets (500 pieces)," the announcement concludes.
