The Council for Citizen Control of Police Work will initiate meetings with the President of the Assembly Aleks Bečić and the Minister of Internal Affairs Sergej Sekulović, in order to strengthen the dialogue of all actors on further police reform.
The council, as announced by that body, held a regular monthly session at which the new work methodology was defined this year.
"It was decided that the new convocation of the Council initiates separate meetings with Bečić and Sekulović, in order to strengthen the dialogue of all actors on the further reform of the police and the importance of effective monitoring of the application of police powers," the announcement says.
The council, as stated, considered two cases at today's session.
"Due to the complaint of a citizen of the IC from Budva, the Council decided to ask the Police Administration for additional clarifications in relation to the actions of police officers when investigating traffic accidents," says the announcement.
It is stated that the Council, on its own initiative, checked the behavior of the police towards a minor and assessed that the officers of the Kotor Security Department acted in accordance with the regulations and good police practice.
"The Council made a decision to appoint its member Aida Petrović, publicly recognized for her activism for women's rights and efforts against all forms of violence, to the Operational Team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the fight against domestic violence and violence against women," the statement said.
