In the period from January 22 to 26, the area of Montenegro will be predominantly under the influence of cyclonic activity that will cause unstable weather conditions on the territory of our country and in the region, announced the Directorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
They appealed to citizens and other subjects of society to adapt their activities to the announced metrological situation.
"A more abundant amount of rain is expected in the central and southern regions, especially in the period from January 22 to 24. In the north, in the mountainous regions, snow, sleet and rain will alternate. A strong southerly wind is also expected on the coast, while in the north short-term impacts will have storm strength. In the period from Friday to Sunday, a sudden melting of the snow is expected. There is a danger of rising sea levels, with occasionally strong wave impacts," said the Directorate.
In the press release, they state that due to heavy rainfall, there may be an increase in the flow of rivers and lakes, and therefore possible flooding in areas with increased risk.
"For the mentioned period, the protection and rescue system will raise the level of operational readiness to react in these situations. Citizens have at their disposal the emergency numbers 112 (Directorate for Emergency Situations - OKC) and 123 (Protection and Rescue Service), through which they can inform about the situation on the ground and actions in specific situations," the announcement states.
