The President of the Assembly, Ivan Brajović, today told the academics of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU) that their role is difficult and thankless and told them not to forget that they were chosen to protect Montenegrin treasures.
"Don't forget that you are the treasurers of a nation that inherited statehood for more than a millennium. Don't forget that you are the creditors of a culture that had the first printing press among the South Slavs," Brajović said at the session of the CANU Assembly.
He told the academics not to forget that they were chosen to guard the identity of a nation that guarded it "both with sword and pen, with lives and graves, for centuries and millennia".
"That honorable and dignified role is the envy of many. I believe that you are aware of the role entrusted to you, because the future is not a fiction, but a truth that has not yet come into force," said Brajović.
According to him, CANU is an institution that absorbs all rays of knowledge, cognition and knowledge, but also ignorance, bad intentions and actions, which reflect on the entire Montenegrin society. "And not only on society, but on the past, the present and, most importantly, the future."
"And if there is no future, CANU has no purpose of existence. Without a future, humanity has no purpose of existence. But the purpose of existence is not to survive, but to preserve, inherit, systematize and valorize the greatest and most valuable burden of humanity - and that is knowledge," said Brajović.
He emphasized that "both your and our responsibility is necessary and unreserved, because if we close our eyes, we are not blind but afraid".
"That's why let's watch, hear and say everything that is good, but also what is not, because not being aware means being unscrupulous. And CANU and the Parliament of Montenegro must not allow themselves to be unscrupulous. Unscrupulousness is a luxury and manner of those who have been swallowed up by incoherent ambitions and interests Brajović said.
As he said, CANU and the Parliament of Montenegro have only one single ambition and one single interest.
"And that is the future of Montenegro".
He emphasized that the task, duty and obligation of everyone, from the youngest to the oldest citizens of Montenegro - is to provide conditions for the smooth development of science, culture and art.
"Not because we are polite or because we want history to remember us as benefactors, but for that and only that - to create the conditions for our descendants to be first among equals and equal among first, in this world and the next, whose tree of life they are our old nation and country are one of the roots," said Brajović.
According to him, there are no fruits without roots.
"Without a germ, there is no seed. And the fruits and seeds are our knowledge, knowledge and understanding - our identity. That's why, academicians, let's sow - because without sowing, there is no harvest," said the president of the parliament.
