Montenegro would appreciate Romania's support in providing certain doses of vaccines, bearing in mind that vaccination should be started as soon as possible, said Foreign Minister Đorđe Radulović at a meeting with the newly appointed ambassador of that country, Viorel Ardeleanu.
Radulović, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, congratulated Ardeleanu on taking office, with the expectation that substantive and friendly cooperation between the two countries will be continued and intensified during his mandate.
They also discussed vaccination and the complex situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the methods of procuring and distributing vaccines.
"Radulović said that Montenegro would appreciate Romania's support in providing certain doses of vaccines, bearing in mind that vaccination should be started as soon as possible," the statement said.
According to reports, he told Ardeleanu that the immunization of the population has started in that country and that they expect a large number of doses in the coming period.
"It was agreed that intensive communication on this issue should be continued at the ministerial level, in order to look at the possibilities for the procurement and distribution of vaccines as soon as possible," the announcement says.
The interlocutors, as stated, discussed the importance of dynamizing the political dialogue, to which high-level meetings would certainly contribute.
Radulović invited the Romanian head of diplomacy to visit Montenegro as soon as favorable epidemiological conditions are created.
The meeting also discussed the improvement of cooperation in the field of tourism, as well as the possibility of establishing a direct airline during the summer season.
Ardeleanu said that Romania, as a friend and ally, supports the European aspirations of Montenegro, and that they are ready to provide expert assistance in the most demanding chapters.
He pointed out the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of economy, through organizing meetings of the chambers of commerce of the two countries, which, as he stated, is an opportunity to jointly identify potential areas for cooperation.
