The Montenegrin Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices (CINMED) today issued approval for the import of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, which "Vijesti" announced this morning.
"Acting in accordance with the Government's Decision on the conditions for granting consent for the procurement of the Sputnik V vaccine, the Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices, at the request of the Montefarm Pharmacy of Montenegro, on February 11.02.2021, XNUMX, issued consent for the procurement, i.e. the import of the Sputnik V vaccine (Gam -COVID-Vac), produced by FSBI "NRCEM NANF Gamaleya" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Russian Federation", it was announced from that institution.
CINMED said that the consent was issued in accordance with Article 5 of the Law on Medicines, which stipulates that consent for the import of a drug that is not registered in Montenegro is issued for medically justified needs, i.e. in case of epidemics, but also in Article 8, in in accordance with which the Government undertakes measures for the supply of medicines in cases of emergency and other special situations and prescribes a special procedure and conditions for granting approval for the procurement of medicines.
They explained that Sputnik V is a combined vector vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus infection and that it contains two components.
"Component I, which contains a recombinant human adenovirus vector (serotype 26), which encodes the S protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and Component II, which contains a recombinant human adenovirus vector (serotype 5) which encodes the S protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus ", it was announced from CINMED.
The Sputnjik V vaccine is given in two doses, 21 days apart.
The first doses, as "Vijesti" announced, will arrive in Montenegro during the next week.
