With the screening of the films "Unforgivable" by the Danish director Lars Feldballe-Petersen and "Man of Integrity" by the Iranian director Mohamad Rasulof in the "Boka" cinema in Kotor, the eighth edition of the Human Rights Film Festival UBRAZAJ 2017 ended last night, under the slogan "QUESTIONING BORDERS". which was organized by the Center for Civic Education (CGO), in cooperation with partners.
As announced by the CGO, during the past seven days, the Montenegrin audience had the opportunity to premiere 15 films that deal with the topic of human rights in different ways and question the borders in and around us when it comes to sensitive human rights issues.
"UBRZAJ 2017 brought, so far, the richest selection of films of the most recent production that have received countless nominations, recognitions and awards at festivals around the world, such as: CPH:DOX, Sarajevo Film Festival, Brunswick International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, Haifa International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Zagreb Film Festival, Movies That Matter International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, BELDOCS and many others.Many of them have just started their festival life and such awards are ahead of them. The guests of this year's Human Rights Film Festival UBRZAJ 2017 were: Goran Bogdan, the protagonist of the most anticipated Croatian film Agape and producer Stanisav Babić, then the director of the Macedonian film Amok, Vardan Tozija, as well as the crew of the film Idzume granica - director Jelena Gavrilović, editor Nataša Pantić and producer Igor Mitrović. ACCELERATION 2017 was organized from December 10 to 16, 2017, with a central program in Podgorica at JU KIC "Budo Tomović" from December 10 to 14, and accompanying editions in Berane 11 . and on December 12 at the Cultural Center and in Kotor from December 15 to 16 at the Boka cinema", announced the CGO.
The UBRZAJ film festival about human rights, now traditionally, was opened on the International Human Rights Day, December 10, at the "Budo Tomović" KIC in Podgorica, and on that occasion, prizes for the affirmation of human rights and civil activism were awarded to informal citizens. initiatives for the preservation of Boka - Bokobran, in the organization category, and posthumously to Milan Šaranović, in the individual category.
An additional screening at the request of the audience was organized on December 15, 2017 in Bar, in the "Niko Rolović" gymnasium, and another one will be organized soon in Berane.
This year's edition of the Festival was realized with the support of the Commission for the distribution of part of the income from games of chance of the Government of Montenegro, the Canadian Embassy, the Heinrich Boll Foundation, the Embassy of Italy, the Embassy of Israel, the US Embassy, as well as the company Metropolis, Studio Mouse, Post of Montenegro, PG Taxi and Compania de Vinos Montenegro. Festival partners were JU KIC "Budo Tomović", BELDOCS, Sarajevo Film Festival, KC "Nikola Đurković" from Kotor, Municipality of Kotor, Municipality of Berane and Center for Culture Berane, and media sponsors were public service RTCG (TV and portal) and Vijesti ( newspaper and portal).
