KOR: Krivokapić and Bojanić to remove the secrecy mark from the Bar-Boljare highway project

The Coalition for Sustainable Development (KOR) demands from the Government of Montenegro, i.e. Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić and Minister of Capital Investments Mladen Bojanić, to urgently remove the secrecy mark from projects and contracts concerning the construction of the Bar-Boljara highway, because every day of delay threatens the Tara river and its UNESCO status, they stated from that non-governmental organization (NGO).

They added that "those still secret documents allow the contractor and subcontractors to destroy the "tear of Europe", trapping it in a concrete trough".

"The removal of the secrecy mark is necessary in order to proceed with the rehabilitation and revitalization of the Tara riverbed as soon as possible. That is why we call on the Prime Minister, in cooperation with the Ministers of Capital Investments Mladen Bojanić and Minister of Ecology Ratko Mitrović, to start saving the Tara River without delay, in a way that in communication with UNESCO to find the best solution for river bed revitalization", said KOR.

They said that they are aware, and that it is written in the report of the UNESCO mission, "that in the section of the crossing of the Tara River with the highway (Mateševo ​​loop), during the design and assessment of the impact on the environment, inadmissible omissions occurred, which resulted in "trapping "river into a narrow and deep concrete bed"

They explained that from an ecological (hydrological) point of view, this is the wrong solution, and that they were abandoned in Europe in the 70s.

They insisted that the Government of Montenegro do the same and thereby contribute to the preservation of the Tara River, the Durmitor National Park on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

"We are warning the Government, the entire Montenegrin public and all lovers of the Tear of Europe that the existing Tara project (a river with a wide and shallow bed) has been moved and redirected into a narrow and deep concrete bed, which to a greater extent has led to large-scale ecocide," KOR announced. .
