After two years of unsuccessful correspondence with the former Minister of Education Damir Šehović, who turned a deaf ear to the request of the Municipality of Berana and residents of the local community "Štitare", that local community will finally receive a van for transporting students.
The Vice President of Berane Municipality Marko Lalević explained that the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Vesna Bratić accepted the initiative by which the decision on the allocation of new vans was annulled.
"According to the former minister's previous distribution, the vans bypassed our municipality and the school in Štitare, and children from that local community have been going to school on foot for two years," says Lalević.
He states that the Municipality of Berane, along with solving that problem, has been conducting activities and negotiations with local carriers for the past month in order to find a long-term solution for regular suburban transportation for all residents of this municipality, not just for students.
"At the suggestion of the carriers and using their experience, we came up with a model that would be sustainable with the subsidization of certain unprofitable lines from the municipal budget, primarily the line Berane - Šekular, Berane - Kaludra, Berane - Lubnice - Kurikuće, Berane - Štitari - Bubanje, which would be much made life easier for our fellow citizens in suburban and rural areas and contributed to their survival on their age-old hearths," says Lalević.
According to him, in order to be able to implement the plan of regular suburban transport, in addition to the will of the municipality of Berane and local carriers, it is necessary to enable the legal prerequisites to implement this idea.
"It is the adoption of the new Law on Communal Activities, which has gone through all the legal procedures for its adoption, from public discussion to working bodies and reached the Government, which should forward it to the Assembly for consideration and adoption. After its adoption in the Assembly, the Municipality of Berane will have a legal the possibility of subsidizing unprofitable lines, which in accordance with the possibilities of one's own budget can help," explains Lalević.
He says that the indicator that better days are coming for the municipality of Berane is represented, as he claims, by the firm promise of State Secretary Miroslav Anđelić that one of the priorities of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports will be the construction of a new kindergarten in Berane this year.
Berane returns to his rightful place
What we must especially point out is that during the meeting at the Ministry of Ecology, Urbanism and Spatial Planning with Minister Ratko Mitrović and his associates, it was agreed that with the new reorganization and systematization of the Ministry, our city will become the headquarters of the Administration for Inspection Affairs for the municipalities of Rožaje, Plav, Petnjica and Andrijevica. , says Lalević.
The Vice-President of the Municipality of Berane believes that all this says that this city is "slowly but surely in all fields returning to the place that belongs to it and that it occupied in history, as the spiritual, educational, intellectual and regional center of the north of Montenegro".
