The National Parks of Montenegro expect the full support of citizens, especially registered fishing associations and local communities from the Skadar Lake NP area, as well as representatives of the competent state services during the period of the fishing ban, according to the announcement of the National Parks of Montenegro.
They, together with the representatives of NP Skadarsko jezero, held a meeting attended by representatives of the Police Administration, communal police from Podgorica, the fisheries inspector of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, registered fishermen, the NGO Carp security group, as well as from the Rijeka Crnojevića Local Community .
According to the press release, the meeting was held yesterday, and the topic was the beginning of the fishing ban that entered into force on March 15 and will last until May 15, 2021.
It was announced from the National Park of Montenegro that all those present expressed their willingness to contribute within their competences and capabilities in the suppression of all forms of poaching and illegal activities in the Skadar Lake National Park.
"In order to more effectively control the water area, the National Park Protection Service has been additionally strengthened with both human and technical capacities. The procedure for installing a thermal camera for controlling the terrain of the Mali Blat area is underway," the announcement states.
They also said that it was pointed out at the meeting that the timely response of the competent authorities and cooperation with all registered fishermen, as well as local communities that gravitate to this protected area, is of great importance.
"During the period of the fishing ban, market and non-market places will be more effectively controlled in order to suppress the illegal sale of fish to the greatest extent possible, and all perpetrators will be sanctioned," NPCG said.
