Minister of Health Jelena Borovinić-Bojović will lead the Montenegrin delegation that will pay an official visit to Serbia from March 23 to 25.
The Government Information states that Borovinić-Bojović will meet with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and Serbian Health Minister Zlatibor Lonačer.
"The purpose of the visit and the holding of meetings is to exchange opinions on the current epidemiological situation in the two countries, on the experiences of the Republic of Serbia in the era of the epidemic at the global level, due to the infectious disease COVID-19, and also to reach an agreement between the two countries on mutual cooperation and summarizing in this extremely difficult the epidemiological situation, both at the global level and in Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia," the Information states.
In addition to Borovinić-Bojović, the Government delegation will include State Secretary in the Ministry of Health Veljo Čađenović and Secretary General in the Government of Montenegro Božo Milonjić.
"Through the program of meetings, mutual familiarization with current and possibly future problems in the prevention, protection and treatment of citizens from the infectious disease COVID-19 is planned. , agreeing on the possibility after production for Montenegro to procure vaccines for the future, and after the same production and placing on the market with all the necessary elements on the validity and registration of the drug, Montenegro will have the opportunity to receive the delivery of vaccines from the Republic of Serbia in accordance with the contractual obligations, which will be the assumption that it is possible and financially cheaper for the Montenegrin market. This does not mean that Montenegro strives to acquire only a cheaper vaccine, but exclusively a high-quality one, but with the fact that Montenegro is territorially the closest to the country that will soon be a vaccine producer, it gives the right that the costs are much lower, especially when it comes to, among other things, the costs of transport to Montenegro".
It is added that a special focus during the meeting of the delegation will be the provision of mutual assistance in the procurement of medical equipment and medical supplies, which are produced in the Republic of Serbia.
"Where, first of all, the emphasis would be placed on medical equipment for health workers, which is necessary in all covid centers, not only in our country, but also on a global level, in order to ensure the full protection of employees in health institutions. In this regard, the situation in Montenegro in this epidemiological situation and the needs of the health system will be presented to the delegation of the Republic of Serbia, which we expect to be fully informed about all segments of epidemiological measures and the measures and activities undertaken with the possibility of making a full contribution of the Republic of Serbia to the health system of Montenegro, with mutual understanding and agreeing on the need to provide mutual support during the negotiations," writes the Information.
