The National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG) plan to increase the potential of self-sustainability and a greater offer of national parks, and at the same time employ women from the north through wool processing workshops, the company announced.

The NPCG announcement states that a meeting was held attended by the President of the Board of Directors of the Public Enterprise for National Parks, Marina Jočić, and the director of the enterprise, Jelena Kljajević, with her colleagues, the textile designer Jelena Đukanović and Branka Pajević from Žabljak, in order to consider the possibilities. processing of natural materials originating from national parks.
"At the center of attention this time was the possibility of organizing workshops for wool weaving in which women from the north of Montenegro, from areas that gravitate to national parks, would participate. They stated that everything would be done in accordance with the instructions of experts in the field of textile design, in order to achieve an adequate balance of traditional technique and modern form.
"As is well known, wool is an unused resource in Montenegro, and unfortunately very often a source of environmental pollution. Using such a resource for artistic purposes, employing female labor from the north of Montenegro and enriching the offer of national parks seems to be a winning combination in the search for a successful, ecologically sustainable business model of JP for national parks," NPCG said.
They also said that with more than 600.000 tourists who visit Montenegrin national parks annually, this public company has unique resources that enable local producers to provide visibility, promote the product, and thereby strengthen the development of female entrepreneurship in economically marginalized areas in the north of the country.
