Montenegro's priority is the health of its citizens and openness primarily to its first neighbors, said Minister of Health Jelena Borovinić Bojović in a conversation with her Serbian colleague Zlatibor Lončar.
As announced by the Government, the interlocutors exchanged information on the current situation with the coronavirus in the two countries, current epidemiological measures and their prospects for the upcoming summer season.
Borovinić Bojović, who is on an official visit to Serbia, confirmed that the health of citizens is a priority of the Government.
"But right next to it is the economic stability of the country, as well as the openness towards the region, and especially Serbia, as the closest neighbor and brotherly state", said Borovinić Bojović.
She stated that Montenegro is preparing with all its might to be a health-safe destination for the summer season and open to the arrival of tourists.
"The conditions of entry into Montenegro will depend on the local epidemiological situation, as well as the epidemiological situation in the country from which one is coming, and Montenegro's priority will be the tendency to be open primarily towards its first neighbors," said Borovinić Bojović.
She reportedly raised the issue of procuring vaccines against the coronavirus (Russian and Chinese), which will be produced in Serbia.
Lončar said that he is interested in the epidemiological situation in Montenegro, and especially in the conditions of entry for citizens of Serbia in the upcoming summer season.
He said that he is open to the future procurement of vaccines that will be produced in Serbia.
According to reports, Montenegro was among the first to show interest in them, so it will be respected when production starts.
"In Serbia, they are counting on part of the production of the Russian vaccine to start soon, and the complete production by the end of the year. The production facilities are fully ready," the statement said.
Borovinić Bojović and Lončar agreed that the health of citizens is a priority.
"And by helping others, we are actually helping ourselves, because we are safe only when those around us are also safe," the announcement states.
