Marking 22 years since the NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY), as well as 30 years since the start of the civil war and the breakup of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRJ), family members of fighters who died in the 1990s and the Association of War Veterans since XNUMX laid flowers. on the monument to the so-called fighters of the Nikšić Shavnik group, which is located on Šak Petrović Square, near the Cathedral Church in Nikšić.
They were accompanied by representatives of the Democratic Front (DF), the Workers' Party and the Yugoslav Communist Party of Montenegro (JKP CG) Nikšić.
In order to comply with the epidemiological measures, less than 20 of them gathered.
The President of the Municipal Board of the Association, Blažo Đurković, said that the country is lucky to have sons who lay down their lives for it at a given time.
"That's why every country appreciates its victims and heroes. It's an unfortunate country that renounces its best sons and honorable victims, that does everything to make them go into oblivion and be further 'burdened' with lies and insults," said Đurković.
He expressed the hope that the new government will open the possibility to "finally learn the full truth about war events and victims".
"This Association has no other goal or meaning of existence than to fight and fight for justice so that every soldier who responded to the call of the motherland feels proud and respected, especially the families and relatives of fallen fighters and heroes. Justice, truth and freedom are not brought by anyone , nor do they last forever. You have to fight for them again and again. Only honor and shame live forever. Our fallen comrades chose honor, and shame remains for those who will be easily recognized," Đurković said.
He said that the attitude of the state towards the fighters who died during the nineties is painful.
"The previous official government, which identified itself with the state, is ashamed of some of its moves, some of its actions, and then on behalf of those who have nothing to be ashamed of, it all boils down to the fact that in their time they should erase what can never be done wipe out. We are deeply convinced that the coming time will bring answers to all disputed questions. The truth is that young generations should learn from the exploits and mistakes of the past," said Đurković.
The monument, on which 62 names of soldiers who died in the last war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Croatia are inscribed, was erected by the Association in 2006.
